Best Surf Beaches in Haleiwa

Haleʻiwa Aliʻi Beach is the North Shore gateway reef at the west end of Haleʻiwa. Its powerful right wraps toward the harbor on winter north and northwest swell, with current, shallow inside reef, and a competitive takeoff requiring advanced judgment when size rises.

Laniakea is a long North Shore right over reef with a shorter left and enough room to show several sections. It works on winter north and northwest swell and becomes powerful as period and size increase.

Chun’s Reef offers approachable right and left reef waves on smaller North Shore days, with longer walls that suit mid-lengths and longboards. It becomes faster, heavier, and less forgiving as winter swell grows.

Home to the famous Banzai Pipeline, one of the world's most powerful and dangerous waves. Located on Oahu's North Shore at Ehukai Beach Park, Pipeline produces heavy, barreling lefts that break over a shallow reef. The wave also features "Backdoor" rights. Only expert surfers should attempt this break due to the dangerous conditions. Best during winter months with north to northwest swells.

Puaʻena Point is a long right near Haleʻiwa that is more sheltered than many North Shore reefs and can offer manageable walls on moderate winter swell. Larger sets still carry real North Shore power and current.
