Rising tide with 1.3 ft swell energy.
Rockaway Beach – 98th St is a beach break in Queens, NY suited for lower-intermediate surfers. It picks up swells from E to S (90°-180°). Best surfed at 1-4ft. Hazards include rip currents, rocks, jetties, pollution, crowds. Prime season runs February, March, August, September, October, and November. Expect very crowded crowds. Offshore winds come from WNW (290°). Just down the boardwalk from 90th Street, Beach 98th has similar punchy peaks. Jetties create multiple take‑off spots and the wave suits lower‑intermediate to advanced surfers on south and east swells with light offshore winds. Low–mid tide, W–NW wind, 3–6 ft SE swell Look for channels next to the jetties to paddle out; on bigger swells the lefts off the east jetty are hollow and fast.
Respect locals and avoid dropping in; high fives go further than attitude.
