Deerfield Beach Pier offers a small, often mushy wave that's popular with locals and tourists. Surfing is only allowed north of the pier, where high‑performance waves break in the hot zone; south of lifeguard tower 7 has softer waves for learners. Hazards include rip currents, pollution, theft and the occasional shark.
