Best Surf Beaches in Redondo Beach

The Redondo Breakwall is a regional classic that breaks along the King Harbor breakwater. When it's big and working, it produces a fast, walled left over a sandy bottom. This spot is reserved for advanced surfers, as strong currents and powerful waves make it hazardous. It comes alive on large north and west swells and is usually surfed during winter.

Sapphire Street is the beach break on the north side of the Topaz Street jetty, at the south end of King Harbor in Redondo Beach. It needs a west or northwest swell and is shadowed from south swells. It usually stays smaller and softer than the peaks south of the jetty, so it draws surf lessons and newer surfers.

Knob Hill is the beach break south of the Topaz Street jetty in Redondo Beach, in front of the Knob Hill Avenue beach stairs. It is faster and steeper than Sapphire Street across the jetty, with several peaks, and suits intermediate and advanced surfers, or newer surfers on small days.
