Refugio State Beach is a point break in Goleta, CA suited for beginner surfers. It picks up swells from WSW to NW (250°-310°). Best surfed at 0.5-3.5ft on a either tide. Hazards include rocks, rip currents. Prime season runs January, February, March, October, November, and December. Expect moderate crowds. Offshore winds come from NE (45°). A sheltered, palm-lined point that offers a slow, mushy right-hander over sand and cobblestones – perfect for beginners and longboarders. It needs a decent west swell to wrap into the cove and works at most tides. All tides, light NE winds, 2-5 ft W swell Sit wide on the shoulder and angle gently into the soft right walls – great for practising trims.
