Pensacola Beach Pier is the Panhandle's most popular surf break. Moderate 1–3 ft waves are perfect for beginners and longboarders, while bigger waves arrive during hurricane season and winter cold fronts. Sandbars north of the pier shape waves nicely for long rides and a relaxed atmosphere.
Walk down the sand to either side of the pier; avoid the fishing zone. Surf schools operate on the inside sandbar.
Free parking is available at Casino Beach near the pier. Arrive early during tourist season to secure a spot.
