Hobuck Beach is a remote, crescent-shaped beach on the Makah Reservation. It offers fun peaks for beginners to intermediates and stunning views of Cape Flattery. Camping and cabins are available, and surfers often spot sea lions and jellyfish. A Makah Recreation Permit is required for access and camping.
Because of the long drive from Seattle, crowds are low except during sunny summer weekends. Early sessions offer solitude.
Park at the Hobuck Beach Resort and purchase a $10 Makah Recreation Permit at check-in. Campsites and cabins must be reserved ahead during peak season.
The beach is right in front of the campground. Walk across the dunes to paddle out. Watch for drifting logs during big swells.
