Anahola Beach on Kauaʻi's windward side is a tranquil bay protected by a fringing reef that creates a calm inner lagoon and a fun outer break when north- or east-facing swells arrive. Locals enjoy fishing, snorkeling and surfing here, and the white sand and lush backdrop make it picturesque. Watch for currents near the old pier and rocks at either end of the bay.
Respect the quiet residential nature of Anahola; keep noise down and pack out all trash.
Insider tips from local surfers
The outer reef offers mellow peaks best for longboards and funboards; stay clear of the rocky ends and keep an eye on shifting peaks.
